How to Shoot Your Shot With the Perfect Flitz
Do you have your eye on someone but don't know how to approach them? I get it. You've probably come up with a million excuses as to why you can't shoot your shot.
It's already week *insert number 1-10 here*, I should just wait until next term to say anything...
Sure, you can totally do that. But why not just take a chance and kick things off now?
You still have the rest of the term and your upcoming break to keep in touch with one another. By the time you both come back next term (if you’re both on, that is) you’ll have tons of chemistry built up.
So, what's one way that you can profess your budding crush without having to be direct? Flitz!
Now, you might think “flitzing” is dumb and that it won't advance the relationship, but quite frankly, it’s a nice way to avoid making yourself look stupid in person. If they respond, then you know for sure they're interested. If they never check their blitz or reply, then you have nothing to worry about! Formal rejection averted. You can wallow in the privacy of your own dorm.
For those who want to shoot their shot with me this 18W, here is a basic formula for successfully sending a flitz.
How to Flitz (A Beginner's Guide)
Come up with a short poem that rhymes
“Roses are red
Violets are Blue
Let's go to foco
I wanna get to know you”
You can use a classic pun like:
“R u a beaver cuz, dam!”
or you could try something that’ll make your crush giggle:
“You should get your license suspended, cause you’re driving me crazy”
Either of these will work, depending on your taste (and your crush’s sense of humor.)
Email it to them
Now, this is the most challenging part because you don't know how they're going to respond. My advice is to go ahead and send it anyways. If you end up getting rejected, it isn't the end of the world. If your crush is understanding, it probably won't become awkward between you two (if you guys started off as friends).
Pat yourself on the back
You just put yourself out there and made yourself completely vulnerable. If you did not get a significant other (or your dream outcome) out this, that’s okay, you overcame a fear and built some confidence in the midst of it all. In the end, you lose nothing.
All’s fair in love and flitzing!
Flitz your hearts out this Valentine’s day.
